  • Fe2+ is called Iron(II) this will combine with O2- oxide as FeO Iron(II) Oxide (black iron-oxide)
  • Fe3+ is called Iron(III) this will combine with O2- oxide as Fe2O3 Iron(III) Oxide (red rust)
  • S2- is called the Sulphide Ion and is different to SO42- the Sulphate Iron

    Paper Dart Testing
    In groups of three, you are going to try making a range of different paper

    darts and test how they perform in practice.
    You are going to change the type of dart you make,
    and also the length of the dart.
    To test the darts, you will throw them in a repeatable way,
    and measure two things.

    You are going to both measure the distance it travels before it touches the
    ground (not necessarily where it lands) and the time it spends in the air before
    it hits the ground.
    Below are some dart designs, choose two to test.

    Planet Earth Research Task

    Your task is to research a mineral resource found on the West Coast.

    You can choose one of these four resources
    Your can present your research as an essay, a poster, a pamphlet or a powerpoint presentation
    Your will have to research the answers to these four questions

    You will have three periods of class time to work on this, but you will have to do some homework too. The presentation should take you 6-10 hours to research and complete.
    Your report is due
    You will have to keep to show your references (where you got your data from) as part of your presentation, so keep track of this while you research!
